Paid for 2nd day air delivery and it arrived exactly on-time and I was able to install my Parallels partition plus the other software that I required. The start-up and performance improvements, over my MBP, are substantial and I suspect that is primarily because of the SSD. I have worked on budget spreadsheets, responded and generated a substantial amount of e-mail and have managed to watch a couple of movies in the 1.5 weeks I've been out of the country.

I added an 128GB USB Flash Drive for data storage and couldn't be happier. I was able to do a fair amount of document and accounting review on my flight to Europe but had to be a little inventive when the passenger in front of me moved his seat to full recline - even the 11.6' size couldn't quite overcome that inconvenience. The only CON that I have is that the screen real-estate was not designed for reviewing large spreadsheets or accounting reports-requires too much scrolling and the cell and font sizes are too small to read comfortably. But, overall, it checks off all of the requirements that I outlined when I started looking for a lightweight laptop with sufficient power, capacity and speed to do what I needed. Overall rating is A.

Incredibly fast & reliable. Coming from an ASUS Windows laptop that served me well 6+ someodd years. It was time to move on & away from PC on account of the constant threat of virus/spyware/adware/BSOD/etc; thanks to my friends' input & personal experiences. Being an iPhone owner every year since the iPhone 3G, I've always hated the incompatibility when it comes to using sync & data reading/transfer features. It's now ABSOLUTELY SEAMLESS with Apple to Apple products. I also selected this laptop for the size of the HDD (SSD was a huge bonus) & processing power. Very happy so far.

Battery life is INCREDIBLE. Definitely recommend a couple of full power cycles when the unit is brand new. Makes a difference over the unit's lifetime.

If there's one and ONLY one gripe, it's that the surface of the laptop when open & the keyboard itself, are suuuuuuper susceptible to fingerprints & smudges. Constantly having to clean w/ my LCD screen cleaner & a mf towel. Could vary depending on how naturally oily your skin is though. Not a deal-breaker.

In closing, I KNOW that price tag is immensely hard to swallow at first. I purchased this one on Cyber Monday for $100 off retail price. Still a lot of money.

But rest assured; all my friends that recommended this to me, all still have fully-functioning, reliable, & quick Apple laptops between 3 & 7 years old. No problems to report. It's a bunch of money. But in this case, you DO in fact, get what you pay for here.

Love the ease of connecting it (via adapter cables, not included) to peripherals (e.g. VGA and HDMI) As added bonus, I have an older Apple Cinema Display I though was dead because it would no longer communicate with my Mac Mini. A new report from Mark Gurman and Debbie Wu at says that Apple is going to release two new products this fall that have been hotly anticipated among the Mac community: a low-cost MacBook with a high-res display, and a new Mac mini aimed at enthusiasts and pros. A MacBook Air with Retina display Bloomberg’s sources, who asked to remain anonymous, say that the new laptop will look similar to the current 13-inch MacBook Air.

While the display will remain around 13 inches, it will finally step up to “Retina” resolution. The MacBook Air was updated last year with a new processors that are decidedly behind the times: the new CPUs are Intel’s 5th-generation Broadwell line, rather than the state-of-the-art 8th generation Kaby Lake R or Coffee Lake line.

The laptop features USB Type-A connectors and the MagSafe power connector, rather than the USB-C connections common to other MacBooks. It is said that the laptop is geared for those looking for a cheaper Apple laptop and for schools who buy in bulk, which means that it is likely to cost a lot less than the $1,299 starting price of the current, and might even come in under the $999 starting price of the. If so, it would certainly obsolete the current MacBook. Apple may simply consolidate the product line—if it has a modern processor and Retina display, there’s only need for one thin-and-light brand in the Apple lineup.
